SERVES: 6 | PREP TIME: 10 min | COOK TIME: 20 min

Brussels sprouts are a great Christmas tradition and we spruced ours up with crispy bacon, garlic, and soy maple glazed hazelnuts! We have been enjoying our Brussels sprouts for weeks now but have saved this festive dish for the big day! Prepare your sprouts the day before and store in the fridge, then cook them up in the pan on the day and enjoy their buttery garlic sauce topped with crunchy seasonal maple and soy glazed hazelnuts!

Pan Fried Brussels Sprouts

500g sprouts
3 cloves garlic
50g butter
75g bacon lardons(optional)
Salt and pepper
150g hazelnuts
1 tablespoon each of maple syrup and soy sauce

1. Prep your ingredients:

  • Trim your Brussels sprouts and cut into half or quarter depending on their size

2. Heat a little oil in a frying pan and crisp the bacon for 3-4 minutes.

3. Add the butter to the pan and when it has melted add in the garlic and sprouts.

4. Season with salt and pepper and mix well.

5. Cover with a lid and cook gently for 10-15 minutes until the sprouts are tender but still have a good bite to them.

6. While the sprouts are cooking, mix the hazelnuts, maple syrup and soy sauce together and put in a small roasting tin to roast in the oven for 10 minutes. Stir well to make sure they are well coated and don’t stick.

7. Add the hazelnuts to the Brussels sprouts and cook for a couple more minutes. Then serve and enjoy!
