Creamy Garlic Chard on Toast

We used our beautiful rainbow chard to make this creamy, garlicky toasty, and it didn’t disappoint. Try this seasonal recipe to mix up your brunch, lunch, or snack time. The warm, creamy, savoury toppings on a freshly baked, crunchy sourdough toast hits the prefect combination of flavour and texture.

Creamy Garlic Chard on ToastIngredients:

200g chard
2 cloves garlic
2 spring onions
100ml cream
Handful of grated gruyere/emmental cheese
2 slices toasted sourdough
Squeeze of lemon juice
Salt and pepper


1. Prep your ingredients:

  • Thinly slice your garlic and spring onions
  • Wash the chard and grate the cheese

2. Sauté the garlic and onion gently in the oil for 2-3 minutes and then add in the chard.

3. Season with the lemon juice, salt, and pepper and toss it around in the pan for 3-4 minutes until it has started to wilt.

4. Then pour in the cream and leave it to bubble and reduce for 3 minutes. Let it rest in the pan while you heat the grill and make the toast.

5. Once you have made your toast, pile the creamy chard on top of the toast, cover it with cheese and grill it until the cheese has melted.

6. Serve for brunch or lunch with a fresh salad on the side.
