Achill Island Sea Salt
Founded in 2013, Achill Island Sea Salt is a family business, which was inspired by the long-forgotten tradition of salt production on Achill Island. In the time-honoured style, the O'Malley family began producing sea salt in their kitchen. They have since moved to a custom-modified facility in Bunacurry, Achill Island to continue producing their award-winning artisan sea salts with larger capacity.
Through a combination of sustainable traditional and modern techniques the O'Malley family creates a great tasting, pure and natural Irish Sea Salt, which is organically hand harvested in small batches using a slow evaporation process. The characteristics of Achill Island Sea Salt are directly linked to the high mineral content of the Grade A wild Atlantic waters that surround Achill Island creating distinctive tasting and textured sea salt flakes.
Sharing similar values to Harvest Day, Achill Island Sea Salt aims to create a great tasting, pure and natural Irish Sea salt using sustainable production methods and to provide a viable industry on Achill Island.
